about

A recording made in a friend's house just off the Meadows in Edinburgh back in my twenties with Jamie Noble on guitar and vcls, Sam Wilson on Bass and Simon Jaquet on percussion. Jamie and I gigged a bit together in Hotel bars, at The Netherbow Theatre and supported some artists at the University like Bridget St John who played this year at Celtic Connections (2012!) Also played a bit at Edinburgh film theatre when it was in Randolph Crescent , sang with my sister Fiona at Charisma Music Club in Old St Paul's Church Hall and took part in a student sit in at the Art College to support some friends. Jamie was (still is!) a masterful guitar player and possesses a most glorious tenor voice.

lyrics

Who can come to me and show me a way that I’ m meant to go
Who can show me a reason for anything I think I know
For through all the laughter and all the lies
You can’t hide the sorrow lying in your eyes
No matter how hard you try

Don’t give me a God who has died in to a set of tiny rules
I cannot live by negation attending a holy school
But through all the doubt and through all the scorn
I still hear him saying that I am not yet born
Lord I really want to know

So move me
Far past my aching mind
Into the love I want to find
Into the true release
Into the way of peace

Warm hands
Cold heart
Strange days
False start
You wrote the lines
I blew the part
Strange ways
Break and mend
Making dates to meet old friends
Doors and stairs and gable ends

Don’t give me your love if it dulls into a fixed routine
I cannot be warmed by your tarnished smiles I’m sick of seeing
But when darkness falls I begin to stall
Darkness calls I begin to fall back in to your arms
