CHILD LIKE THE SUN

by David Heavenor

/

about

There used to be a bookshop in Edinburgh called Baurmeisters on George 1V Bridge and they had a huge basement with lots of interesting stuff. I found this book The Gifts of the Child Christ by George MacDonald so i think it inspired this one. In search of a deeper spirituality rather than dogma and the joyless traditions

lyrics

CHILD LIKE THE SUN

Child like the sun
You’re my health
You’re the only one
Child of the stars
You’re near and yet so far

Child in my form
You in the calm, you in the storm
Child in my day
And in my passing away

For I can’t breathe and I can’t see
I’m waiting for you in a bad dream
And a long and lonely night

Oh Child of my love
You’re the Dayspring I’m thinking of
Child of the hope
That hangs along that high taut rope
