about

I lived in a small cottage in New Winton East Lothian back in my twenties and the village was basically a group of houses set round a green. At night the street lighting was limited to this area so it didn't take long to be left in the pitch black with only the stars and moon for company. There was a tree lined track which led up to another group of cottages set on a hill and we would sometime process at night up there with lanterns. It was eery and dark with the trees casting shadows and stirring up images from the imagination.

CAST

Take a look at the tree babe
Symbol of a cross
Every time I see it babe
It makes me feel quite lost

Take a look at the ocean babe
Just look at her extent
Every time I feel her devotion babe
It makes me feel quite spent

And in the sea I cast a stone

And the sun comes up
The sun goes down
The moon takes her place on the merry go round
The stars come out and wave their hands
Spread a strange light on all my best laid plans

Take a look at the planets babe
Cold reflections of the sun
It came to me in this daydream babe
That they make me feel Someone

Take a look at the stars babe
Winking in the night
Do they you who you are babe?
Do they tell you wrong from right?

And in the sky I cast a stone

Take a look at your journey babe
Do you think you're going some place?
I can see it in your eye babe
You've got distance on your face

Take a look in your mirror babe
Can you see your face at all?
I'd love to give you a name child
But I've lost the trace to call

And in my heart I cast a stone
